And Simon... He Vass Der Tu; At the Son's of Knut Annual Dance and Dinner!
Last night was the annual Son's of Norway Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner. We went at 5:00 thinking, "This is lutefisk-there will be plenty left and the dining room will be half full of old Norwegians." Well. We were 1/3 right. The room was FULL of old Norwegians and we overheard that it was their biggest night ever. There had been a line for food since 3:00 and they were almost out of potatos and carrots. Further, and most disappointing to me, they were out of fattigmand (cookies) by the time we got to the cookie table. Regardless, Simon proudly displayed his Scandiavian heritage looking so Nordic in his sweater and shiny whiteblond hair, happily sampling the Cardamom Butter Lefse, and covering himself in what we now fondly think of as Norsk Cannelloni (krumkaka dipped in rice pudding and lignonberry sauce). And for all you Lake Woebegon fans out there- yes a few of the older gentlemen smelled a bit of Aquavit and there was plenty of dancing (look over Simon's left shoulder in the black and white photo. They even had a dancing dog on the stage for a while, Wow).

By the way-We watched a nice little old lady eat two FULL regular size dinnerplates FULL of Lutefisk (and if you find this no big feat you had better go google lutefisk when you are done reading.....).
