Yup. It is fair time again. Last year was Simon's first year for rides and we bought $25 dollars of tickets. Remember? He tried out the bus ride, the tot-cars, and the we did the demolition derby ride together. This year we were smart and bought wristbands- for both boys and me. Good thing too. Katie and I totalled the ride count after the boys went to bed last night and at individual ticket prices we were at least $250 deep. Yes folks, thats 10 rides and 8 times through the funhouse for me and about about 20 rides and 8 times through the funhouse for each of the boys... just wait until you see the rides these little thrill seekers dared to take. That carousel ride was first and they never even asked to go back.

1970's vintage tot-car roundabout and space jeep chase with buddies Landon and Gavin. We don't really know how many times they did these rides but are guessing Finn rode 10 times and Simon three or four.

Demolition cars (four times) and berry-go-round (2 times)
Not to mention the three of us on a simulated balloon ride twice, Simon and me once on the Sizzler (my stomach was turning in 85 degree heat and Simon squishing me on that one), and twice on the Tornado (once just Simon and I to test it out and then once with Finn too-yes we was tall enought to ride any ride that didn't go upside down).

And since it was the Fair we took some ride breaks to check out some "poopin' cows", chickens, rabbits, geese, ducks, goats, sheep, horses and pigs. But the poopin cows were Simon's favorite. The boys each caught a couple fish and scored a stuffed carnival toy. I was pretty impressed with myself when we wandered through the agriculture tent to beat the heat and aside from some basketball-size cabbage from Sequim my beets, carrots, peas, etc. are every bit as good looking as other gardeners'. I came home inspired to pick the rest of the carrots and beets and today Katie and I roasted our onions and beets and pickeled four pints.

Aren't they pretty? Look I even have a tomato! BLT's for supper.

Oh yeah, did you notice the ride count wasn't quite done? These two little maniacs did the rollercoaster four times - - -

BY THEMSELVES

All in all it was a sunny, dusty, hot day for the fair and this family did it up right. I can't wait to taste that tomato tonight. They are rare here in PA with the weather we have unless you have a greenhouse.
