We had a tremendous, gigantic, action-packed, ridiculous birthday weekend filled with friends, food, and fun. Oh yeah, and presents too.
Thank you so much for all who sent well wishes and gifts. We still have Simon's big FIFTH in a little over a week, but Finn's Third and their shared party went over like an atomic bomb of excitement. Right now the two birthday boys are whining (normally and peacefully- it means they're tired) while watching Cars 2 on dvd. We were so proud of them both at their party today- they were polite, excellent hosts, and all 22 kids and 18 adults (+ six quilters from down the hall including Simon's preschool teacher Zorba and Pastor Dick) were well fed, well entertained, and had a blast!
Finn was so happy yesterday; waking at 5 am to begin his birthday. He was thrilled with his presents and chose (as any true foodie would) Sabai Thai for supper where we sat beneath the tropical fish tank and feasted on spring rolls, veggie pad thai and eggplant curry. He got to sample his party cake before bed.
Here are the men of the hour. Can you beleive 5 and 3? This photo pretty much sums up our lives these days.
Katie spent ALL day yesterday decorating. Finn was thrilled with his Number Three Race Track.
Simon's choice was a little more difficult to interpret: yellow cupcakes with the Batman symbol. This was what we could come up with. He looks happy about it but had some commentary on what we could have done better. We might live up to his expectations someday...
Here's the gang. Someone suggested the best way to keep two dozen preschoolers entertained was simply a big space and 50 balloons. I'd have never guessed but they were right.
Who has a birthday without a Pinata? Not our boys.
The boys both blew out their candles, noshed some cake...
and then tore into their presents! Finn's buddy Lincoln hit the jackpot with a Captain America shield and mask...
...and Simon's buddy Aidan knew to up the ante with some Star Wars Legos. I don't have a photo but Simon's schoolmate Lily won his heart today with a sweet, giant Iron Man action figure that he won't put down. Our boys are truly blessed with great friends.
Now that I've finished, Katie is relaxed enjoying her Belvedere Vodka (like her new infatuation Chelsea Handler) Pomegranite Martini and Finn's passed out on the couch. Simon has assumed his favorite place on the chair and is engrossed in Cars 2. Good Night!
