The upside of the drudgery is: 1- it provides way more space to build things out of our mountain of LEGOs; 2-The tree is out on the deck and it provides a festive New Year prop for our New Year Day bonfire; 3- it is nice to have our star lights back in the windows for the next nine months.
But don't worry. Mistress Scrooge got what she had coming. Santa armed us well with nerf darts. What we didn't expect was that the lady of the house would march out to Wally World yesterday morning and arm herself. Good thing the store was out of the really heavy artillery and all she could find was a six shooter. So Dad still has the superior firepower and the better aim.
And speaking of artillery...
By the looks of it, Mom and Dad got in the sauce a little early and so we trashed the house with confetti poppers. Then we went down the street to visit our new neighbors. The kids packed up like rabid coyotes and screamed through the house while the adults played a game.We pooped out about 9:30. When you consider we started our party at 5- that was plenty long no matter how much energy a 5 and 3 year old can muster.

Today we had brilliant sunshine and nice temperatures. So out we went to Duckwater for a long walk and then later headed out to the Milwuakee Grade for a long bike ride. We also had a great New Year's Day meal of grilled turkey burgers with bacon and habanero cheese. A high temperature of 47 degrees meant firing up the grill for lunch.
Hope everyone had a great start to what we hope is a good year for you all.
