Summer (or at least what we call "False Summer" here on the peninsula) is just slip sliding away. Last week the boys took a field trip with Finn's class to the marine life center to watch feeding time at the octopus tank. Cool stuff...

Today the boys and I went out for a hike on the Hook while Katie went to some lady's baby shower across the  county.

Finn seemed shocked by Simon's bouldering skills.

He got pretty brave with the drifwood roots he named "the Playhouse."   If you look close you can see Finn's hand on the right side inside the root cave.

By the end of the trip Finn was even ready to give a small boulder a try.

I seems the Hook-jaunt wore both boys out. We'll see how camping at the beach goes next weekend. I'll be plenty happy if they spend even a few hours like this in the tent. I'm a little weary of 6 am wakeups...
