Simon turns 6!

He thanks you all for cards, conversations and fabulous gifts.

His cake choice was chocolate buttercream with layers of yellow cake and blackberry sherbet. His kind and talented mother obliged...It was hard sharing his day with Thanksgiving but it wasn't such a big deal. He was just happy we didn't make him gag down squash again.

The Boys' Boo and Pops were here to visit, celebrate, and experience the Beery household this long weekend. Whether they were ready or not; they got the full treatment of Lord of the Rings, Christmas-elves/Thanksgiving-turkeys, swords, ninjas, cowboys and indians, Legos, superheroes, action figures, pizza, doughnuts, cider and silliness that is Simon and Finn of the present.

Here they are absorbed in the Fellowship of the Ring while the Finn also multi-tasks with the Night Before Christmas pop-up book and a Santa hat.
Here Finn serenades his Boo with a sweet little elf song on his Merry-oke microphone.

Christmas illumination started out disastrous with only one strand of lights having survived the off-season. I threw only a small quiet tantrum (at least it was in my head-Katie may disagree) and then made the best of the leftover lights. Pops saved the day with  a gracious gift of new lights. The house looks great now and the boys aren't complaining about their Scrooge Dad.

We capped off the grandparent's visit with a trip downtown to see Santa's arrival by Sprint-boat and cheer on the lighting of the City Tree.  The boys had a great view!

Simon is currently lamenting the state of affairs in the seemingly empty house.  But we're soon off to see the movie Rise of the Guardians. Wish us luck; it will be Finn's second movie theater experience and Simon's third.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
