April Outside

A little bit of Spring weather  and a week off of school had the boys outside this week. Simon practiced his skating. He's getting better. He even knocked the front truck apart doing a "trick."  One of the parts rolled away not to be found. Nevertheless a spare was to be had in the overflowing the skate box in the basement.

I took an extra day away from archaeology on Friday to spare Katie from Spring Break Fever (where she becomes deathly ill due to a full week of both children following her around the house commenting and complaining).  We took advantage of the leave and instead of going off on some grand adventure we made several trips to the lumber shack, pillaged some pieces from around the garage and shed, and pieced together the beginning of a Fortification for the backyard. We also got to work preparing several unsupervised flower beds and and a very large and neglected  garden plot.  We uncovered quite a few goodies including an Iron Man action figure, a super ball, an ancient ladder, and a cool wooden fruit box. The ladder is sanded and trimmed and ready for Fortification deployment. Iron Man is already lost to the bushes. The Super Ball bounced into space and is currently in orbit. DUCK!  The garden is ready for fruits and veggies. Katie and I can hardly stand and walk across the room thanks to three days of hard construction labor. The boys couldn't give a flying fungi and constantly remind us that their fort isn't done yet...

So with that it is time for supper, quiet, and sleep. Back to the grind (the money-making; one not the under appreciated one) tomorrow.
