We have certainly been busy since the last post. Soccer, until Thursday, was in full swing with both boys kicking and running strong. Finn was on the White Tigers with other three and four year old kids. Simon was a Green Shark. Now that Soccer Season is over we're on to many other things...
Last Saturday was the Society for Creative Anachronism Faire at Lincoln Park. Simon and Finn were excited to try on some real knight's helmets and scratch some war pony ears. But, alas, like the real knights of old these knights of the modern age prefer to talk about their gear, drink beer, and wander about to see who's sword is bigger instrather than spar with each other. We never did get to see a battle. Just heard long gassy tales about them from guys and girls (Lords and Ladies?) dressed up in cast-off Medieval Times garb.
With beautiful weather comes backyard time. The dogs are always pretty happy with that. Annie has a new pup named Scoobey-Finn. Crash might keep Simon at paw's length but doesn't apparently really care at all when Simon mimics him for the camera.
The garden is planted and the boys are in full-blown watering mode. They scored new watering cans this week. Simon's is a tan gnome and Finn's is a pink pig. As you can see, we have new planters, new trees, and a just right shade of green happening in the yard.
We've been riding a ton. Simon and I have hit the trails four of the last six days. Simon is on a new bike since we took this picture last week. We found him a used 20" model of his blue 16" but the new one has a front shock and six speeds. He's pretty proud of it and even if he is still a bit short and skinny for it, his riding is already improved. We'll post pictures of it as soon as we can catch up to him on the Hornet (yes it's yellow and black and has a name). Tomorrow we are off to the duck races, the bike races, and will celebrate Mother's Day...
And on that topic Katie and I both want to wish our own mothers the best day. We love you both and are sorry we are not able to spend some quality time with you and celebrate the brilliant parents you were able to successfully raise. Thank you and we love you for all you have done for us, taught us, and loved us.
