Sunday, August 5

It was a very busy week of gardening and cooking for the Beery Boys.  Thursday they attended a Pre-school cooking course as part of a grant through a couple local programs to show families how to use garden fresh produce to make healthy food. I know, I know, just like everything else unfortunately its the church choir that comes to the fellowship gathering and new member drive... regardless that zucchini muffins remain an important late summer staple in our house, now the boys can do more of the preparations- like grating the squash! Check out Simon and Finn grating away. Here Katie and I thought the only thing the boys could grate away was our patience...

Here they are in their super chef's aprons taking scope of the Community Garden. "Hey Finn, why isn't the squash as prolific as ours?"

All that cooking, gardening, and building these past couple days sure stirred up some serious appetites. August is the eighth month for roasting marshmallows at our house.  Our trust is gaining momentum and since we let the boys grate zucchini now they are also allowed to roast some things too...

It was a hot one yesterday and, as you may find yourself noticing about now; there is a new stacked-stone patio wall in the backyard. It's perfect for chillin on and eating some super messy s'mores.

The Gnome & Pig certainly like it!
