The first week of June was marathon weekend in Port Angeles. It was a great social event for the boys and they had a nice time running the last ceremonial mile after Simon spent the month of May running everyday at school so that he had completed a marathon by the event. We then awoke early Sunday morning and headed out to Farm View Road to help Simon's PE teacher run an aid station along the marathon and half marathon. We had been specially selected to help Mrs. Winn due to Simon's general exuberance about PE this year. The great news was that we were exhausted by the end of the day but also that we helped Mrs. Winn win the aid station competition. This means Hamilton PE will have an extra $300 dollars next year. That's Mrs. Winn giving Simon and Finn directions in the second picture.
The next Wednesday we hopped in the family truckster and headed east to check out Grand Coulee Dam. Grammie and Grandpa met us there. They boys finally got that hotel room stay they've been anticipating for quite a while (all their lives).
It was a whirlwind trip with swimming pools, hotel cartoons, and Grammie's birthday with a great mexican feast complete with a sombrero and sopapilla. We stayed up late to watch the sun set at the dam. The big draw is that right at dark the US Bureau of Reclamation opens the gates a touch and lets a huge screen of whitewater rush over the dam. Then they have a huge laser light show on the water that tells the history of the area and this important facility.

We had fun at Grand Coulee Dam. It was nice to experience some heat before coming back to dreary Port Angeles on Saturday. Everyone around here keeps asking why we went there midweek and what my strange appointment at the Dam Facility was about.
For today I think I will simply say that despite my lack of recent posts there will be many more dam things for you to look at on this blog. Katie and the boys are in NC visiting with the Collins Clan and having some southern fun; but when they return we begin preparing for our next Grand adventure.
