Canadian Thanksgiving and the week after...

It's cranberry season again!

So on Columbus Day we celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving with a whole herd of other kids and their families.  Dogpile!

Since then, Simon has diligently attended 1st grade and Finn's been hanging around the pumpkin patch and the backyard.

Today we headed out for parts known and hiked the 3 mile round trip to Northrup Homestead.  It was cooler so the rattlesnakes are slower but the cougars are hungrier and the eagles haven't arrived quite yet.

The boys did their usual climbing. This outcrop is much higher than the picture suggests.

We had lunch at the homestead before venturing a little farther up toward the lake.  The trail got a little steep and narrow and the boys were getting tired so we turned back after one more climb up a large rock...
Again, they're higher than the picture might suggest.

Simon even snapped a nice photo of Katie and me in front of the Chicken Coop.
