We enjoyed a mid-fall day hiking and climbing at Steamboat Rock in theGrand Coulee.

Steamboat Rock is a pretty neat place. It
is Reclamation Land managed by the state so it is NOT closed due to this congressional ridiculousness. So when Finn announced he found a brontosaurus skeleton (not really) and asked who we needed to call- I laughed and said "me" (really).

Otherwise it was very quiet there on this mid-fall day. We passed lots of hunters on the road in and then a group of hikers from the Jackson Hole Bible College on the trail. After climbing around the boulders and steep columns, we sat in peace and ate our lunch a a large basalt column watching loons swimming out in the lake.
