Challenger Soccer Camp 2014

It was British Soccer Camp Week.  We've been looking forward to this week for months.  The boys experienced this camp in Port Angeles last year and we found out it was in Omak this year! Katie, the trooper she is, has been driving the boys the hour  each way from Grand Coulee.  It was worth it. Let me tell you. If you have kids and they like soccer, try the Challenger Camps.  Chris and Patrick were great and the boys had fun fun fun. I was able to take the day off today and make the trip up to see them play.

Finn's mini-kickers camp got cancelled due to lack of participants, but they allowed us to boost him up to the all morning program. He did just fine and often provided Simon with a little brotherly challenge as you will soon see. Above & left is a fantastic collision during a challenge race.  Finn won out on that one. Brawn goes to Finn, skill goes to Simon.

Here's the brothers taking some direct instruction from Chris.

The boys really had a great time. I can't stress that enough. Both greatly increased their confidence and skill levels. The Coulee had better look out come fall!

Here's Simon right in the middle of a major step-over! Check out Yash psyched out and going the wrong way.

Finn gained great confidence too. Check him out going up against the tall third grader to battle for the ball in the scrum.

 Simon with a massive strike!

Here's the whole gang.

 Isn't this a great shot?

Chris was the hero of the week.  Challenger traditionally runs camp as a World Cup competition. Simon's team won this version of the cup. Finn's team was a very close second. Both teams took two games each leading into today and the championship ended up 3-2 (score today and number of wins). Simon's team was Brazil and Finn's was Argentina.

Aren't these two boys lucky that waiting for them when we arrived home this afternoon were an Argentina kit and a Brazil kit along with a World Cup 2014 ball?  Despite the South American leanings of the assigned teams we only have one thing left to say:  "GO USA!"
