Smoke, Veggies, Dock-Jumping, & a new Truck

Sorry, not much for photos this week.  The fires are raging and after midweek when the Okanogan County fire torched 100 houses (and possibly our beloved Loup Loup ski area today); we've been pretty covert.  Before the smoke rolled in the boys hit the beach. They get braver each trip.  Finn's catching air off the dock these days!

The garden is cranking. The storm that started all the fires knocked down the tomatoes and corn with hail and wind. It stood back up and the corn has tassels today. In the last week we've either eaten, pickled, or frozen beets, tomatoes, zucchini, carrots, hot peppers, sweet peppers, chard, kale, eggplant, basil, bok choy, lettuce, strawberries, onions, cucumber, and green beans. Here's a sample of a very fresh and diverse curry we all demolished this week. I'm looking forward to a garden pico de gallo tomorrow.

At times the smoke has been so thick we can't see the ridge across the Columbia. But we're thankful it's just smoke and not fire. It has been hot (107) and windy. We're struggling to keep the lawn green- especially since I don't like to weed and feed  living this close to a water supply that supports million of people.

And here's a shot of me leaving the Ford dealership in our new-to-us 2012 F150 pickup.  It's too big to fit in the frame! Thankfully it does fit in the garage. And yes, we checked that before we bought it.

Love your new truck! What fun. Your garden is amazing...wish we were there! And those two little fish you live with are pretty darn amazing too!
